Environmental Film Fest 2011

Cinema Verde

Our very own community, Gainesville, Fl will be hosting the second annual Environmental Film Fest: Cinema Verde. Fortunately for mōksa, we were asked to be a part of it, and of course we couldn’t say no. This 10 day event will feature films on pollution, chemical contamination to our food and soil, waste practices and problems, the plight of animal species because of habitat loss and destruction, weapons, war, water and energy. Several of the films are tough to watch, but several are uplifting and inspirational. They are all certainly worth the viewing time. Awareness is crucial for bringing about change towards a sustainable future and we can all be a part of it. Small changes add up towards the greater good. After all, Plant Earth is our home.

Below are a few trailers. Most of these films are available online, on the official website, through Netflix or available on youtube.

That’s awesome. We have a couple of film festivals each year in my area but I’d LOVE an Environmental one! I am looking up the films you’ve posted.
I can’t wait to see Forks Over Knives. I also recommend now oldy but goody Food Inc. to everyone I know.
I’m also anxious to see “The Blood in the Mobile”. Our phones are financing war in DR Congo where the raw minerals are sourced…

Thank you so much for sharing these with us! People (including me) need to educate themselves on what is going on is this world. We all take for granted the abundance of things, including fresh air and water, that we enjoy on a daily basis. Wish I lived closer so I could attend the film festival!

Thanks for posting this. What a wonderful project. Hopefully, it will help bring awareness to important issues facing our planet. The “Flow” and “Tapped” previews are very interesting. I’d love to see these at our local theater.
